The Mountain Collective Wants to Save You Money

A loose coalition of independent major ski mountains in the West have formed “The Mountain Collective” and are offering a big deal this winter. Alta, Aspen/Snowmass, Jackson Hole, and Squaw Valley/Alpine Meadows are offering a $349 season pass for the 2012-2013 season. But before you snow junkies crack open your wallets, let’s take a closer look at what three and half bills gets you.

Firstly, this isn’t the Epic Pass from Vail. There’s no unlimited riding/skiing so this pass isn’t meant for locals. The Collective Pass gets you two free days at each of the above named ski hills. After that you’re looking at unlimited 50% discount on lift tickets and some discounts (up to 25%) on lodging.

Pricing: The Mountain Collective Pass is $349 for adults and $229 for children before November 19, 2012.

Our Verdict: It’s not entirely clear if The Collective counts Aspen/Snowmass and Squaw/Alpine Meadows as single destinations. That could put a serious dent into the free tickets. However, with the exception of Alpine Meadows, the above resorts offer ticket deals just about…never, so if you’re planning a trip, it’s worth looking into this if only for the 50% off tickets.
