Northstar – The Snow Junkies http://www.thesnowjunkies.com Lodging, Gear, and Lift Ticket Deals for Skiers and Snowboarders Thu, 07 Mar 2013 01:32:38 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.7.7 How To: Give a Proper Snow Report http://www.thesnowjunkies.com/2011/03/21/how-to-give-a-proper-snow-report/ http://www.thesnowjunkies.com/2011/03/21/how-to-give-a-proper-snow-report/#respond Tue, 22 Mar 2011 01:54:29 +0000 http://www.thesnowjunkies.com/?p=5328

The very simple Northstar snow report

I’m not sure what is so difficult about the snow report. And I’m talking about the official one, not the crazy ramble-gibberish of ski area Facebook/Twitter accounts (“It’s EPIC up here!!!!!!”). What I want is the most basic of of all data — the 12 hour report. This would be the amount of snow that fell from 5pm to 5am.

Up until today, I just lived with the fact that no ski area would ever give me this number. Why would they? They want customers to see that eight inches fell overnight, but don’t want you know that the snowstorm happened in the morning, stopped at noon, and that there is indeed no new snow the next day.

So thank-you Northstar-at-Tahoe for enlightening me for the first time with an easy to read report. Oh look, there’s also a link for the five day forecast, the road conditions, a grooming report, and live web cams. Brilliant!
