Park City – The Snow Junkies http://www.thesnowjunkies.com Lodging, Gear, and Lift Ticket Deals for Skiers and Snowboarders Thu, 07 Mar 2013 01:32:38 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.7.7 FREE Tickets When You Fly Into Utah http://www.thesnowjunkies.com/2010/12/25/free-tickets-when-you-fly-into-utah/ http://www.thesnowjunkies.com/2010/12/25/free-tickets-when-you-fly-into-utah/#comments Sat, 25 Dec 2010 22:43:05 +0000 http://www.thesnowjunkies.com/?p=5148

Using a free ticket at the Canyons courtesty of Quick START

The Mountains: The Canyons, Park City, Deer Valley

The Deal: Catch a morning flight from almost anywhere and you can be on our slopes the same afternoon. The Park City Quick START (Ski Today and Ride Today) Vacation lets you convert your airline boarding pass into a same-day lift ticket to the Park City resort of your choice.

The Details: You will need to bring the completed, required redemption voucher, along with your same-day boarding pass and out of state photo I.D., to the resort ticket window, to receive your same-day lift ticket.

Our Take: We used this deal last winter. The SLC airport has got to be one of the most convenient ski-ports in the world. Pick the earliest flight you can find and you’ll find yourself on the slopes by noon.  The redemption form is a slight pain in the ass, but worth it to save $80 bucks.

Deals of the Week: 2/10 – 2/18 http://www.thesnowjunkies.com/2009/02/08/deals-of-the-week-210-218/ http://www.thesnowjunkies.com/2009/02/08/deals-of-the-week-210-218/#respond Sun, 08 Feb 2009 16:00:35 +0000 http://www.thesnowjunkies.com/?p=1198 President’s Day weekend is traditionally as terrible as Christmas for deals on lift tickets.  But this year, we uncovered so many, we added on two extra bonus days of discounted tickets — and also because we forgot to post them last week.  Our excuse:  We were busy riding Utah powder.

PICKS OF THE WEEK

Tuesday, Feb 10 @ Attitash, NH: A typical deal usually has a hook.  This one has zero explantion for $35 tickets all ages.  We’re not complaining.

Wednesday, Feb 11 @ Sugarbush, VT: We almost missed this one too. Bring in an empty Vitamin Water bottle and get a ½ off lift ticket.

Thursday, Feb 12 @ Sierra-at-Tahoe, CA: The final day of Snowsports week to get a $35 ticket.

Thursday, Feb 12 @ Squaw, CA: Do you live in Truckee-Reno area? $25 tickets for locals.

Friday, Feb 13 @ Sugarbush, VT: Here’s some good luck on an unlucky day.  Tickets are only $14.

Friday, Feb 13 @ Belleayre, NY: Once a month, these New Yorkers say thanks with a $25 ticket.

Saturday, Feb 14 @ Loveland, CO: Get hitched and get a free lift ticket at Loveland. Twofer $56.  All you got to is get married in a mass ceremony.

Saturday, Feb 14 @ Ski Camelback, PA: Maybe our favorite promo of all time. The first 50 adults that show up in full pirate gear get a FREE ticket.

Monday, Feb 15 @ Winter Park & Copper, CO: According to the site, the Phillips 66 Buy One, Get One Free is valid today. We’re not sure if you believe that.

Tue-Thu, Feb 16-18 @ Killington, VT: The most irritating deal we found this week. Buy a ticket on 2/9 for $50 or on 2/10 for $55 or on 2/11 for $60 and go skiing 2/16-20. Makes sense, right?

NEW DEALS THIS WEEK

West Coast: Squaw Valley, CA feels your pain state workers. $30 ticket on the first and third Friday until that crazy old budget gets fixed.

2 for 1 New England: Beer promos are the best promos. Drink some tasty Otter Creek, get a midweek twofer at Mad River Glen, Bromley, Bolton, or Jay Peak.

Rocky Mountains: Bring in a new pair of socks to Powder Mountain, UT on 2/26 and get a $40 ticket.

West Coast: Mt. Bachelor, OR announced a $29 midweek ticket. You got to buy it online.

Black Tie Ski Rentals http://www.thesnowjunkies.com/2008/12/28/black-tie-ski-rentals/ http://www.thesnowjunkies.com/2008/12/28/black-tie-ski-rentals/#respond Sun, 28 Dec 2008 07:37:18 +0000 http://www.thesnowjunkies.com/?p=425 The easiest way to rent...ever

The easiest way to rent…ever

With airlines charging all kinds of rental fees, and the hassle of lugging ski gear through airports and up to hotel rooms, we decided to give Black Tie Ski Rentals a try on a recent trip.

Forget the crowd scene at the rental shop.  Black Tie brings the rentals to wherever you’re staying.  I signed up on the website before I left town, so they had all my info when they showed up.   A few minor checks & adjustments and I was good for the next morning.

It’s got to be the fastest, most comfortable, most convenient rental  process on the planet.  Co-founders Ian Prichard & Joe Sternberg started out of their garage in Steamboat Springs, Colorado with a van in 2002.  Now with 11 locations in North America, Black Tie is the premier delivery ski & snowboard rental business.

Two days later I decide to demo another pair of skis. They came to my cabin and swapped out my skis.  Slick. Then on the last night of the trip, I’m sitting on my aprés-ski bar stool having a grand time with no recollection that I have rental skis to return.  Black Tie calls me on my cell.  How did everything work out?  Do I want to use the skis another day?  I confess my situation and throw in that I have an early morning flight.  No problem.  They’ll swing by tonight, if I’m not around, they’ll pick up the gear tomorrow morning.  Just leave it on the deck when I head to the airport.  Bartender, another round!

Each location is an owner operated branch office, so quality & service remains the same no matter where you go.  The Big Sky, Montana location was the first licensed branch to open in 2004.  Now they boast branches in Aspen/Snowmass, Breckenridge/Keystone, Crested Butte, North Tahoe, Park City/Deer Valley, South Tahoe, Vail/Beaver Creek, and Whistler Blackcomb.  New for the 08/09 season will be the Telluride, Colorado branch.  So basically they’re any where you want to go skiing.

All in all, a pretty sweet company.  I’ll definitely look ’em up for my next ski vacation.
